Why I love Atlanta...

I wake up on a Saturday morning and it's time to tailgate for the final UGA football game of the season! The Bulldog Nation is in town and the fun is about to begin. Then I log on to check the news (don't even get me started on the execution of Saddam Hussein) and the local news has a feel good story about a great local character (http://www.11alive.com/life/life_article.aspx?storyid=89758). It's overcast but nearing sixty degrees. And, hopefully, the Thrashers will kick the Sabres asses tonight! I don't understand how people can hate this city. A few months ago my friend and her fiance came to town and he totally bashed Atlanta. I took it personally because I love this city... What's not to love? Okay, crime, traffic, etc. but that is true in every big city. It's going to be a great day! I think it's time for the first beer of the day ;-) Tailgating always provides a good excuse to pop a top before noon!

Online Again!!

At my old apartment I mooched off a neighbor's wireless and rarely had a problem. Now I've got my own wireless and haven't been able to get on-line at home in weeks. Go figure! In the time I was offline, I turned 30!! And when I did I weighed the same as I did when I graduated high school (which was my goal). I was complimented by a friend at my party who said, "If this is what 30 looks like, I can't wait to turn 30!" I did it by sticking to a burrito and beer diet. ;-)

I made it through the whole semester without getting sick even though my students were dropping like flies. Last Thursday was the last day of the semester, Friday started my two week break, and Saturday I got sick. Arg! I'm still getting over it. A steady diet of burritos and beer has helped. Okay, this time I really am kidding... I've had some wine too. Somehow that seems better to drink when one is sick. Being sick definitely put a damper on Christmas. On Christmas Eve I ate and then slept through the opening of presents at my dad and step-mom's. Christmas morning I had to cancel my plans for breakfast and bloody mary's at one friend's house followed by lunch at another friend's house due to being sick. I did make it to dinner at a third friend's house. You see, my family "abandoned" me for the holidays. But not really since my mom and step-dad ended up not going out of town and my siblings only come to Atlanta every other Christmas.

I am so ready to not be sick! I'm not sure taking a trip to Sweetwater Brewery yesterday helped my situation. So today I'm resting and tomorrow starts a weekend of fun with my Bulldawg friends who will be coming to town for the PEACH Bowl (I refuse to call it the sell-out name that severs all ties to the Georgia history). I am currently doing laundry and am reminded that you know you're a UGA fan when you can do a whole load of just Bulldog red.

Where did the time go?

How has almost a month passed since I last wrote… Where did the time go?! And how did I get just a few days away from thirty years old?!? I didn’t feel old until somebody pointed out that these are my last few days in my twenties. Still, I don’t mind turning thirty. I like getting older. Now I can blame my spaciness on “senior moments.” Okay, I’m not that old yet but it just might work in a mere two or three decades.
